Mālama ‘Āina Reforestation ProjectInaugural site planting at Lahainaluna High School. Fourth Planting Day, October 27th, 2024.

Celebrating an amazing fourth planting day at Lahainaluna High School

We had an incredible day at Lahainaluna High School, rich in history and spirit. Following the Hawaiian moon calendar, we chose an ideal planting day with overcast skies and a cool breeze. The gentle sprinkle that greeted us in the morning turned into a light, refreshing rain just as we finished planting—like a blessing from the land itself.

With around 30 enthusiastic volunteers, we planted nearly 60 ʻulu (breadfruit) trees and 20 papaya trees. Each plant is now supported by irrigation, giving this young forest the best possible start.

Lahainaluna, one of the oldest schools in the U.S., holds a unique place in Hawaiʻi’s history. We’re honored to contribute to its legacy, helping to restore the local ecology, welcome back the rains, and strengthen our cherished community.

Mahalo nui loa to everyone who joined us in the spirit of Aloha to make this day a success. We’re grateful to each of you for your commitment to nurturing a brighter, greener future.  🌱🌧️🌺

Please help us to plant Trees! One Tree is $50, $500 pays for 10 Trees, $2500 pays for one acre.

Your generous donation will help us to restore the natural landscape of the island and heal our community.

    Mālama ‘Āina, let's grow together!

The Mālamā ‘Āina project begins with the restoration of Lahaina‘s foothills. Recognizing the importance of trees such as ulu, milo, and kukui, we are committed to bringing indigenous vegetation back to the landscape. This is not just about planting trees; it’s about stewarding the natural balance of the ecosystem.
